Vulkan koji se nalazi na najjužnijem glavnom otoku Kyushu, eruptirao je u ponedjeljak ujutro po lokalnom vremenu.

Japanska meteorološka agencija priopćila je kako se vulkanski pepeo diže u visinu i do 2.000 metara.

Evakuiran je veliki broj stanovnika, te se upozoravaju da se ne približavaju vulkanu zbog mogućih novih erupcija.

Otkazani su brojni letovi.

Vulkanski pepeo pada na područjima koja su udaljena i do 50 kilometara od vulkana.
Tijekom utorka i srijede se predviđa kiša, koja bi trebala smanjiti širenje pepela.
